I'm playing RDR2 for PC and - oh my God, what a beautiful disaster! #1
A year of waiting, months of speculation, finally the official announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and several weeks of intense excitement... and then everything went wrong on the day of the release due to the catastrophic state of the port. Fortunately, it's getting better and better from patch to patch.
They were there at times. In the past, equipment requirements were not just formal. Once upon a time, the risk of "letting me down" was real, and every few executives had to think about whether it was time for another computer upgrade. In any case, even after upgrading, when a player put his hands on a new title, he often had to do them on his elbows, rummaging through graphical settings to find the optimal -or even playable -configuration. In fact, it so happened that a lot of gymnastics was required to start the game... Yes, that was the time. Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC reminded me of all those old sparkles and shadows... indicating the shadows. And the more I didn't want to remember them, the more vivid and painful the images of a bygone era became. UPDATE Since its release, Rockstar Games has been relentlessly fighting the PC ports of Red Dead Redemption 2. There was an apology, a promise of improvements, and lots of patches-both for the game itself and for the (non-) Rockstar Games Launcher. Two large patches have also been released, both marked with the number 1.14 (I will refer to them in the text at 1.14 and 1.14b, respectively). Nevertheless, until the very last moment - almost on the eve of updating this text - it seemed that the developer would not escape the executioner's axe, and he would be severely buried in the text. Meanwhile, thankfully, the 1.14b update-combined with the latest GeForce graphics card driver update-fixed my biggest issues with the game just like touching a magic wand. I stopped experiencing frustrating cuts every few minutes (even with a set of programs running in the background), and I didn't notice any sudden hops into the system. In fact, even the optimization has gotten a little better. In short, I could finally start enjoying the PC experience of Red Dead Redemption 2.
However, I would like to emphasize one thing: the update fixed my problems. Admittedly, I'm not the only person who has felt increased gaming comfort, but the network is constantly receiving numerous reports from players whose patches not only fail to improve, but even destroy performance. In fact, such messages reach me even from the editorial office itself - Elessar is still facing serious difficulties that practically prevent him from playing. Besides, there are still cases when people can't start this production at all. Therefore, despite the clear improvement in the situation regarding what happened in the first days after the premiere, my initial recommendation regarding the computer version of RDR2 has not changed.
